Happy Holidays December 23, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — kristinskaleidoscope @ 10:50 am

I can’t believe that it has been that long since I posted but I have been busy with Christmas preparations. This year I made a lot of homemade gifts. It has been fun but time-consuming, so if I do it again next year I need to start earlier. I will post pictures after Christmas so nobody peeks since I did spend so much time on them.

Earlier this month Elvis had his first Christmas program for preschool. He was so cute and I was so proud of him. He knew he looked good to and had to be talked out of wearing sunglasses.

We also had Uncle J&J’s birthday at our house. My husband made them a Denver Bronco cake. “The team is ugly this year but the cake turned out beautiful, what do you think? We had fun and also had the best lasagna, also made by my husband.

Auntie entered Elvis name in a local drawing for christmas prizes at a Bank here in town and he won!  He got his picture taken with the bank president and put in the paper.  He was so excited that I let him open it early.  As you can see he “hit the jackpot” as he told me.

I have been trying to talk him into sending some of the toys to his cousins, we’ll see.

Craft Fair Tomorrow October 15, 2010

I have wanted to sell at this craft fair since it started but have been to busy.  I am on the council so I will be there to help fund raise with a potato bake, so I am sure I will have to shop too.  Maybe I can start now for the one next year and get some crafts made and stashed away to sell.

Elvis’ pre-school picture came out so cute don’t you think?  He had a cold so his eyes are a little red but I am glad he smiled.

I did not Forget August 30, 2010

I did not Forget that I had a blog I just have not had what it takes to write on it ever since I lost my Rose.  She was the best friend anyone could ask for.  I have gotten a new puppy but since I have not been the one at home to train her she has had some problems.  I hope to make her into a good friend, I wish rose was here to train her.  I do plan to get my blog back up and running.  I like being able to look back and tell myself that I have gotten somethings done.  I am hoping this is the start, wish me luck.

Why worry? January 15, 2010

Filed under: Uncategorized — kristinskaleidoscope @ 8:14 am

I know I have been away from my blog for a month, I wish I could say that I was on some exotic vacation and had no worries or cares in the world, but I can not.  I have been very worried about my very sick dog, who has already had one surgery and is going back to the vet today because the surgery did not help.  Along with other things that are normal worries.  I do have plans to post some of my crafts I got done over Christmas break.  I did get a lot of those done, they help me when I am up early worrying.  I was thinking this morning that I know not to worry and to just leave everything in Gods very capable hands but I still worry.  Maybe I worry because God tells me that if I am to busy to make time to study His word then he will make it for me.  I have found that I wake up often around three in the morning to worry, I can’t clean and wake Elvis up and I don’t want to make too much noise so reading is the best thing and reading my Bible helps me have a much better day.  I am also a very heavy sleeper and most days can not drag myself out of bed if I don’t find myself up early worrying.  I wonder if my worries are God’s way of telling me to read my Bible.  Just a thought.

Anyways, since I have again been up since three, I thought I would try to get a post in, my hopes are to post my crafts this weekend but who knows what else might come up.  I did want to post about Elvis’ new bedtime routine.  After he has taken a bath and gotten his pjs on and before he says his prayers and gets his goodnight kiss he always asks to watch the following on YouTube:

I guess we all have our own likes and I guess he got it from his Grandpo Allan’s side of the family.  Elvis knows the whole song and sings it often, often belting it out in the middle of the store for all to hear, as Momma pretends not to know him, even though I am secretly proud of my boy of three to know the words of this very complicated song.  Oh well, my infatuation has always been for Elvis and the 50’s maybe I have an Italian chef on my hands who will play Dean Martin in the background as he cooks.

Ornament Exchange December 14, 2009

Elvis and I participated in an ornament swap from Crafty Crow . We finally got to get ours completed this weekend. The theme was fairy tales and Elvis knew exactly what fairy tale he wanted to do. He loves Peter Pan and since I had already made him a Peter Pan hat we just made that pattern smaller and made the ornaments out of felt. He helped me draw out the patterns and I sewed them, then he helped me pick out the color of the string to hang them by and helped glue the feathers on. I think they turned out pretty good and want to make Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs hats next thanks to the suggestion of my husband.

Thomas the Train Room November 20, 2009

Filed under: Uncategorized — kristinskaleidoscope @ 12:17 pm

I have been busy both at work and at home to get a post in and am still mad that I can’t find my camera and am going to ask Santa for a new one for Christmas.  We have been working hard to decorate Elvis’ room in a Thomas the Tank theme, hoping this will help him to sleep in his own bed better.  He has been waking up at two and crawling in bed with me which wakes me up and puts me in a cranky mood.  I would take any advise on how to keep Elvis in his own bed all night so I can get some sleep.  I sewed him a new Thomas quilt, pillow case and curtains and my husband painted the walls and put wall clings up.  I love it and like how it is all a theme.  I am almost done with my own room and making it purple and green, I am working on embroidering some pillow cases and fixing some curtains now.  I hope I will have it done by next week, I am having my sister and her husband over for Thanksgiving and would like to have the rooms done by then but I am not going to stress about it because I can always have her stop by when I do get them done.  I want to work on the play/sewing room next and get some organization to it next.  RockstarMy friend Katie has introduced me to Rockstars and that has helped me to get some more done but the next day I am feeling the no sleep from them.  I only really like the taste of the coffee flavored ones but I have not tried that many of them.  I better not get hooked on them but they are helping me get a few more things done.

Happy —–! October 30, 2009

birthday-partyHappy Birthday to me! Well on Wednesday of this week but I did not get a chance to blog until today. My sister Karie sent me this youtube of Elvis, thanks Karie.  My little Elvis picked me out a Tinker Bell cake and had his dad help him get it, all on his own!

Happy Halloween!  I know it is a day early but we got to dress up at work today and I know I will be busy with Elvis tomorrow.  I dressed up in my poodle skirt and saddle shoes, my favorite outfit, to bad I only get to wear it once a year.  BatgirlElvis was sad this morning, he had wanted me to be Batgirl for Halloween to go with his Batman costume.  Maybe I will try to be Batgirl for him tomorrow.

Below is one of my favorite poem about how being a Christian is like carving a pumpkin.  I found it on DTLK growing together website a couple years back and have made it a tradition for when we are carving pumpkins.  Elvis is understanding Halloween more but he is also getting scared of it and I want him to enjoy the dressing up and the pumpkins and the fall harvest more than the scary parts.

pumpkin
Open my mind so I can learn about You;
(Cut the top of the pumpkin)

Take away all my sin and forgive me for the wrong things I do.
(Clean out the inside)

Open my eyes so Your love I will see;
(Cut the eyes out in heart shapes)

I’m so sorry for turning up my nose to all you’ve given me.
(Cut a nose in the shape of a cross)

Open my ears so your word I will hear.
(Cut the ears shaped like the Bible)-we did rectangles

Open my mouth so I can tell others You’re near
(cut the mouth in the shape of a fish)

Let Your light shine in all I say and do! Amen.
(Place a candle inside and light it)
