A Week Off! October 1, 2009

I had last week off  and boy, did I need it.  I did not take the usual vacation but I had such a good time being a stay at home mom to my little guy and also got some sewing time in.  I have gotten my fence rail quilt (pattern found here)done and just need to do the edging on the quilt which is a nice fall weather project to have at the end of the day.  I also made many more crayon rolls for Elvis to give out as birthday presents later this year.  Elvis also made his first apple pie with momma just helping to put in the cut up apples.  I was proud of him and he really got into the stirring.  We used a different recipe because I had some sour cream that needed to be used up, it was called Sour Cream Apple Pie.  I was also very proud of Elvis for learning to use the computer.  I have been letting him play some games and he was happy playing with mom but wanted to learn how to do it on his own.  I was worried that he would not get the concept of the mouse but was I wrong!  It only took me showing him a couple times and he was off and has not stopped yet.  It is nice that the computer is set up in the same room as the sewing machine and it would keep him busy learning while I sewed.  We also took a small ride with Uncles and Grandma to the neighboring towns for some thrift store shopping.  I found me lots of goodies in the terms of clothing and have been enjoying them this week back at work.  Still did not find that darn camera!  I wish I had to be able to post some pictures.

Elvis has also been enjoying Soccer even though momma is not.  It is hard for me because Elvis would rather play with the other kids then play soccer.  He also loves to be the clown that the parents watching the game laugh at.  I hope he starts getting into it but at least he is having fun.  He is also doing gymnastics again for his third year and is doing really good and really listens to  teachers for that one.

Swimming March 6, 2009

I can’t go a whole week with out posting! I have wanted to post all week.  My son has been doing some really cute art projects that went along with books that were read to him.  I got the art projects all ready for Elvis on Sunday and him and daddy have been doing one a day.  I wanted to post but have not got them off the camera yet.  Maybe next week. I was glad that they have enjoyed them because I enjoyed getting them ready and will have to do it again.  It made me feel as if I was there with him even though I was at work.

Elvis Swimming

Elvis Swimming

Elvis, Auntie Karie and I went swimming last Saturday and we had such a good time.  We had planed to go again this week but the wind picked up and it started raining today.  So unless things really improve over night I think we will have to go another day.  I don’t know whether I should wish for a nice day to go or for the rain because we have been so dry.
Elvis loves motorcycles right now so of course he spotted this fabric and had to have a shirt!  I made it with the same pattern that I made his Scooby Doo shirt and then I found a motorcycle applique at a Hobby Lobby when I was in Denver and put that on a pair of jeans.  He is very excited about his outfit and likes showing it off to people.

Elvis and Momma getting on the Train

Elvis and Momma getting on the Train

So my weekend update is a couple days late, but I guess better late then never. Elvis,  Auntie Karie and I had lots of fun on the train ride. It was a long ride and we were glad that we had packed our own lunch. Elvis looking out train window
Elvis was already making plans with Auntie on the train to go swimming next weekend.

disney2I also got to get a shirt sewn for me for work, a motorcycle shirt for Elvis sewn and we got to spend time with Uncle Jeremy J. and Grandma J. playing Scene-it Disney 2nd Edition. Elvis got this for his Uncle for his birthday. It is a blast to play.  I am not just saying that because I won either.  Some times it pays to have a two year old who likes to watch the same movie over and over and over.

Sad Morning February 19, 2009

bear9It was very hard to leave my little guy this morning. When I was helping him get dressed this morning he told me he was getting ready to go to work. I told him that he did not want to go to work because it is boring to sit and type all day but he told me he was going to work to help me. We got in the car and he recognized the route this morning and cried the whole way that he wanted to go to work with me. When I had dropped him off he was still crying that he wanted to go to work with me as I was shutting the door behind me. I wish I wanted to go to work that bad, I just wanted to stay home with him!

Movie Night January 28, 2009

Elvis got to go and rent a movie and he picked out Lilo and Stitch.  This is my favorite part in the movie, especially where Lilo says to Stitch “Elvis must of had bad days too.”

Bad Start to a New Year January 7, 2009

I hope everyone had a Happy New Year.  I ended up being sick.  Elvis started off by getting sick on Christmas and then I got sick on the Monday afterwards and am still not over it.  The place where I work gives us the week from Christmas to New Years off.  I look forward to it every year, a week to be a stay at home mom, a week to get some cleaning done, and a week to work on my sewing projects.  Did I mention that every year I have been sick and unable to do any of these things.  I am so sick of being sick and hope to get better soon.  I was doing so well without catching a cold or anything yet and then I got this.  My son did end up having a good Christmas though and was very spoiled in between naps and Tylenol.  This was his third Christmas and was much more interested in presents then the years past.
