A Week Off! October 1, 2009

I had last week off  and boy, did I need it.  I did not take the usual vacation but I had such a good time being a stay at home mom to my little guy and also got some sewing time in.  I have gotten my fence rail quilt (pattern found here)done and just need to do the edging on the quilt which is a nice fall weather project to have at the end of the day.  I also made many more crayon rolls for Elvis to give out as birthday presents later this year.  Elvis also made his first apple pie with momma just helping to put in the cut up apples.  I was proud of him and he really got into the stirring.  We used a different recipe because I had some sour cream that needed to be used up, it was called Sour Cream Apple Pie.  I was also very proud of Elvis for learning to use the computer.  I have been letting him play some spoutonline.com games and he was happy playing with mom but wanted to learn how to do it on his own.  I was worried that he would not get the concept of the mouse but was I wrong!  It only took me showing him a couple times and he was off and has not stopped yet.  It is nice that the computer is set up in the same room as the sewing machine and it would keep him busy learning while I sewed.  We also took a small ride with Uncles and Grandma to the neighboring towns for some thrift store shopping.  I found me lots of goodies in the terms of clothing and have been enjoying them this week back at work.  Still did not find that darn camera!  I wish I had to be able to post some pictures.

Elvis has also been enjoying Soccer even though momma is not.  It is hard for me because Elvis would rather play with the other kids then play soccer.  He also loves to be the clown that the parents watching the game laugh at.  I hope he starts getting into it but at least he is having fun.  He is also doing gymnastics again for his third year and is doing really good and really listens to  teachers for that one.

View ImageWow! has it been a long time since I have posted but I sure have wanted to. I have been very busy but have finally gotten Internet at my new home and am able to post again. Just in time to because tomorrow is Elvis’s 3rd birthday. Happy Birthday Elvis! He is going to have a party at the park that is right around the corner from our new home. It is Caillou themed this year which was not the easiest to find but with the help of the internet we were able to get the right stuff. Now if I can only find what I did with the camera when we moved I will be able to post some pictures.

Wishes June 5, 2009

boxesI have big plans, make that wishes, for this weekend. I sure hope I can get my new house into some kind of working order. I have had a hard week going home after working and having to work some-more to get my house done. The problem is that I am down to those boxes of junk that I did not know what to do at the old house and now I don’t know what to do with at my new house. I hope I have more strength this weekend to get rid of more of this stuff or at least set it aside for a garage sale. I have a harder time getting rid of stuff lately because we live in such a small town. If I plan to do a project I can’t just run out to the nearest hobbie Lobby to get what I need because it is a 4 hour round trip. I collect stuff for that when I have time project and then don’t have time because I am always sorting the mess of what I have collected. One day I will get to play around with what I have collected and make some wonderful projects and my collection mess will be much more under controll… well I can wish can’t I?

Elvis has also informed me that he needs a pet fish for his new room. We have not had luck with fish in the past but I think I can give it one more shot. He is old enough to pick out the one he wants so I think I will take him to get one tomorrow.

Spoiled Little Boy March 19, 2009

Elvis is one spoiled little boy and you could really tell this weekend.  We took him to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs, CO and were we impressed.  This zoo was gorgeous and right off you get to go in and feed the giraffes. The walk way is closer to their heads so they come over and take the cracker right from your hand.  Check out this link for there live cam http://www.cmzoo.org/animalsPlants/animalCams/giraffeCam.asp  We gave this a thumbs up and would definitely go again.

Next we went and picked up his cousin Luke for a boys night out at the Thomas and Friends live on stagethomaslivepage08smThere is a three year difference in the boys but they both had a blast and sat with their mouths open in awe  I could not figure out how the trains moved and the eyes and mouths were moving as well!

The next day as we were heading home we decided to swing by the Cave of the Winds. Elvis thought that it was Batman’s cave which made it more entertaining to him. He was also the entertainment for the tour group as well. He would say things like “Hurry guys, run for your lives” and “Whoa guys watch out” and then “Look Robins over there” .  He talked non stop the whole time and then once we sat him in the car he was out like a light, it wore him out being center of attention.

It just goes to show how much fun you can have discovering your own state. I had never done any of those things and it was even more fun to see it all in my sons eyes.

Swimming March 6, 2009

I can’t go a whole week with out posting! I have wanted to post all week.  My son has been doing some really cute art projects that went along with books that were read to him.  I got the art projects all ready for Elvis on Sunday and him and daddy have been doing one a day.  I wanted to post but have not got them off the camera yet.  Maybe next week. I was glad that they have enjoyed them because I enjoyed getting them ready and will have to do it again.  It made me feel as if I was there with him even though I was at work.

Elvis, Auntie Karie and I went swimming last Saturday and we had such a good time.  We had planed to go again this week but the wind picked up and it started raining today.  So unless things really improve over night I think we will have to go another day.  I don’t know whether I should wish for a nice day to go or for the rain because we have been so dry.
bike-shirt
Elvis loves motorcycles right now so of course he spotted this fabric and had to have a shirt!  I made it with the same pattern that I made his Scooby Doo shirt and then I found a motorcycle applique at a Hobby Lobby when I was in Denver and put that on a pair of jeans.  He is very excited about his outfit and likes showing it off to people.

Late Weekend Update February 25, 2009

Elvis and Momma getting on the Train

So my weekend update is a couple days late, but I guess better late then never. Elvis,  Auntie Karie and I had lots of fun on the train ride. It was a long ride and we were glad that we had packed our own lunch. Elvis looking out train window
Elvis was already making plans with Auntie on the train to go swimming next weekend.

disney2I also got to get a shirt sewn for me for work, a motorcycle shirt for Elvis sewn and we got to spend time with Uncle Jeremy J. and Grandma J. playing Scene-it Disney 2nd Edition. Elvis got this for his Uncle for his birthday. It is a blast to play.  I am not just saying that because I won either.  Some times it pays to have a two year old who likes to watch the same movie over and over and over.
